Meet Ahad Abdulhameed Attiah

Dr. Ahad Abdulhameed Attiah

Making a Contribution

Kleinert Kutz fellow, Ahad Abdulhameed Attiah, has traveled halfway around the world to practice with us here in Louisville. But he takes a world view on his purpose and place in life.

Dr. Attiah is originally from Saudi Arabia, and that’s where he received both his undergraduate and medical degree—at King Abdulaziz University. He likes Louisville because it is a “quiet and peaceful place to live in” and hopes to return to Saudi Arabia, to the city of Jeddah, to practice once his fellowship is over.

But Ahad’s vision seems to stretch beyond the confines of the city of Louisville and the country of Saudi Arabia. He was driven to medicine because he wanted to make “a positive impact on people lives and make a difference in society.” That broad view, of contributing to humanity as a whole, is also seen in his favorite quote, “Be the change you wish to see in the world” (from Mahatma Gandhi).

Dr. Attiah’s specialty is hand surgery, and it’s a subject that fascinates him in his “off” time too. Although this might not be the book for everyone, he’s currently reading Green’s Operative Hand Surgery by Scott W. Wolfe, et al.

What drew Dr. Attiah to the Kleinert Kutz Fellowship Program? It was our “worldwide reputation in hand and microsurgery,” Ahad replies simply. His favorite thing about practicing hand surgery is that it brings him challenges and is a career that evolves as new experiences and discoveries unfold.

We’re glad we get to be part of Dr. Ahad Attiah’s experience. Come meet him at Kleinert Kutz.
