Meet Andrew Guenthart

Getting to Know Andrew Guenthart

If you want to help as many people as possible, you may want to take a page from Andrew Guenthart’s book. At one point, he thought of being a lawyer. But lucky for us -- and his patients -- this fellow chose a different path.

Kleinert Kutz Fellow, Andrew Guenthart, was born and raised in Easton, Pennsylvania but went north to Maine to attend Colby College for his undergraduate degree. He returned to his home state to study medicine and received his doctorate from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

Andrew says he decided to be a doctor because he just really likes helping people. “I always thought, ‘Not everyone needs a lawyer, but at some point, everyone will need a doctor,’ so I joined a field I think is really important.”

Andrew specializes in both the hand and wrist. “The anatomy of the hand is really interesting and helping people with hand and wrist problems is very rewarding. I don’t think we all realize just how important our hands are in our daily lives.”

It wasn’t just an interest in hand anatomy that drew Dr. Guenthart to the Kleinert Kutz. “The Kleinert Kutz Fellowship Program is a strong program with a rich history, and it has a diverse background in educating surgeons from all walks of life.”

If you’re able to catch Dr. Guenthart when he’s not helping patients, you might find him reading the book, AO Principles of Fracture Management. If you want to strike up a conversation with him (and this particular title isn’t on your shelf at home), ask him what he thinks of Michael Jordan. (Spoiler alert: When we asked Andrew if he had any role models or mentors, he cited Michael Jordan.)

Kleinert Kutz hand specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call (502) 561-4263 for hand emergencies or to schedule an appointment.
