Meet Kim Jongmin

Meet Kim Jongmin

A Life of Purpose and Service

This week, we are happy to introduce you to Kleinert Kutz fellow, Dr. Kim Jongmin. Kim decided he wanted to be a doctor after he studied the life and work of Nobel Prize winner, Albert Schweitzer.

Schweitzer was a polymath with roots in theology, music, medicine, and humanitarianism. Dr. Jongmin seemed to follow in his footsteps when he donated his time and service to be a volunteer doctor in Bangladesh. Prior to that, Dr. Jongmin earned his medical degree at the Dankook University Medical School in Cheonan, South Korea.

Not one to shy away from different cultures, Dr. Jongmin said he was drawn to the Kleinert Kutz Fellowship program partially for the “excellent opportunity to improve my skills,” but also to “experience the cultural exchange.” He appreciates life in Louisville for the people he’s met, the intimacy within our culture, and our natural landscape.

Dr. Jongmin’s specialty is reconstruction surgery following hand and arm trauma. He enjoys the work and challenges associated with it. After his fellowship, he hopes to return home to South Korea and live in Daegu, Suwon.

Kim’s favorite quote is from the Bible, Matthew 7:7, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” He is currently reading Wonder, by R.J. Palacio.

Come meet Dr. Lane. Kleinert Kutz hand specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call (502) 561-4263 for hand emergencies or to schedule an appointment.
