Waterstep - Louisville Dragon Boat Race

At Kleinert Kutz, our staff loves the community! We show it by helping others and participating in community events. In September, we are assisting the Louisville-based nonprofit, Waterstep. We also were involved in the Louisville Dragon Boat Festival.

Read all about both events below:

Waterstep:

During the month of September, Kleinert Kutz will be supporting Valentina Moreno’s initiative to provide safe water to a community in Dr. Rodrigo Moreno’s native country of Colombia.

We will be collecting lightly used shoes to support Waterstep's mission to “save lives with safe water.” Shoe collection boxes are located in all four Kleinert Kutz offices.

Waterstep's approach is built around simplicity and sustainability, which can literally mean the difference between life and death.

By donating your new and gently used shoes in our offices, Waterstep will utilize them to help fund safe drinking water projects — projects that help save lives each year. In addition to funding water projects, donated shoes keep hundreds of tons of waste out of our landfills. The shoes that are donated through Kleinert Kutz will help those in need have clean water to drink.

How many pairs of shoes can you drop off at our offices this month?

Louisville Dragon Boat Race:

The Louisville Dragon Boat Festival was on September 8th from 9 to 4 pm. 2018 was the fourth year our Kleinert Kutz teams had participated, and they were ready. They had been practicing for weeks! Despite a cloudy day, many came out to cheer them on.

So, how did our Teams Thing 1 & Thing 2 do? They did great! All their hard work paid off!

The results:

Kleinert Kutz Thing 1 (Corporate Division)- First place (gold medal).
1:07.53, 1:07.42, 1:06.03

Kleinert Kutz Thing 2 (Local Challenge)- Second place (silver medal).
1:09.67, 1:09.32, 1:11.15

Thing 1 also won the 2nd place in Overall Grand Champions.

We think our Facebook fan, B. Stewart who commented, "Those neon shirts must have given luck. Or they blinded the other boats. But know it was really all your hard work congratulation.", may have a point, about those neon green shirts, but whatever it was, we can't wait to do it again next year.
