PRN Pre-Op / PACU Nurse

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate as a team leader in planning and implementation of patient care for each patient assigned.
  • Utilizes specialized nursing knowledge and discriminative judgment while administering direct or indirect patient care.
  • Responsible for patient safety at all times.
  • Responsible for the patient’s immediate preoperative and postoperative care and stabilization.
  • Reports any abnormal change in patient’s condition to the surgeon and anesthesia personnel, and records and responds appropriately.
  • Obtains knowledge level, reinforces knowledge, educates and evaluates patient conditions for pre and postoperative patients through telephone calls before and after surgery.
  • Performs chart audits, quality improvement activities, and other related duties as needed.

Minumum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current licensure as an R.N. in the State of Indiana.
  • Formal basic coronary care course preferred.
  • Past experience in perioperative setting preferred.
  • Basic Life Support certification, yearly.
  • Ability to start intravenous fluids.
  • Demonstrates  understanding of Universal Precautions.
  • ACLS certification current.

PRN Surgical Tech – New Albany

Monday through Friday

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist MD and Nursing staff in outpatient surgery setting
  • Provide a comfortable and safe atmosphere for patients
  • Assures that patient care is carried out completely and correctly
  • Perform Scrub Duties and related procedures
  • Work in central sterile area, preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments
  • Help maintain both autoclaves in cleaning, testing and spore testing
  • Assists in Preop/Pacu areas as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to move throughout clinic as needed to complete quality patient care and other professional responsibilities
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Surgical Technology Certificate

Physician Assistant

Kleinert Kutz Hand Care Center is currently seeking a FULL TIME Physician Assistant to join our team of providers in the Downtown Louisville location. Kleinert Kutz Hand Care Center, with internationally known surgeons and researchers, has grown steadily for more than 50 years. The Physician Assistant is responsible for assisting the primary care of the patient under the direction of the supervising physician as well as providing consultation and advice to others as a highly specialized practitioner.

Duties and Responsibilities will include

  • Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations on assigned patients; assess and treat acute/chronic problems and provide direct patient care to patients
  • Assist in providing pre-op and post-op care for orthopedic procedures in accordance with the care plan of the physician; writes appropriate orders
  • Joint injections, removal and application of casts/splints, suturing
  • Consult with staff regarding emergency referrals

Minimum Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited PA program
  • Current KY PA License
  • Eligible for board approval to prescribe medication
  • Minimum 3 years experience in Urgent Care Setting
  • Orthopedic experience preferred
  • Surgical experience preferred

PRN OR Nurse

Kleinert Kutz is seeking an experienced PRN OR nurse to join our New Albany Surgery Center.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Utilize specialized nursing knowledge and discriminative judgment while giving direct to indirect patient care.
  2. Visits patients preoperatively to alleviate fear and performs assessment of patient for any nursing care problems.
  3. Responsible for patient safety at all times.
  4. Directs proper care of instruments, supplies, sterilization and storage of instruments.
  5. Supervises and directs the activities of non-professional personnel as necessary.
  6. Directs and assists in carrying out safe aseptic techniques and procedures as adopted by the department, aided by his/her knowledge of the basic sciences.
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Specific Duties

  1. Performs the duties as normally delegated to the “Circulating Nurse”
    1. Checks rooms for needed supplies and prepares room for specific patient and procedure.
    2. Transports patient to O.R. and checks with patient record for appropriate pre-op preparation and procedures (i.e., lab, x-ray, appropriate permits).
    3. Responsible for appropriate surgical prep.
    4. Responsible for O.R. records, charge slips, and patient’s chart.
    5. Knowledgeable of and assists with the proper, safe positioning of the patient.
    6. Responsible for the sponge, needle and instrument count and documentation of same.
    7. Properly identifies labels and cares for specimens.
    8. Receives and documents all physician orders.
    9. Obtains and records all medications administered during surgery.
    10. Secures emergency equipment and supplies as needed.
    11. Provides assistance to physicians and anesthesia personnel as needed.
    12. Knowledge of privileges of each member of the Medical Staff.
    13. Controls the general “tone” of the operating room.
