Our Hand Therapy and Orthotics Team

Kim Bailey PTA graduated from University of Evansville in 1997 with an Associate’s in Physical Therapy Assistance. She has been practicing since 1997 and joined CMKI in 2002 to specialize in the treatment of the upper extremity. She likes to spend time and make memories with her grandchildren and family.

Ashley Emrich MS, OTR/L, CHT is the director of Therapy and Orthotics of the Christine M. Kleinert Institute. She joined the Institute in 2005, and is a Board certified Hand Therapist as well as a Deep Physical Agent Modalities Supervisor. Ashley has presented at both national and international hand meetings and has been involved in seven hand transplants. She happily spends her free time with her family.

Greg Frey COF, LOF is a certified, licensed orthotic fitter. Greg joined CMKI in 1990, and has over 25 years of experience. He has exceptional skills in the fabrication of both static and dynamic custom braces. Greg strives to create a perfect fit for each new patient he meets and makes everyone feel at home.

Jackson Gall graduated from the occupational therapy program at IUPUI in 2011. He specializes in fabrication of custom orthotics including dynamic and static progressive splints. When not working he enjoys boating, kayaking, bicycling and woodworking.

Holly Habeeb MS, PT completed her undergraduate work in Biology at Centre College in Danville, KY. She went on to receive a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy with an additional Bachelor’s degree in Health Science from the University of Kentucky in 1997. Holly worked at Georgetown Community Hospital in outpatient, acute and subacute rehab until joining the Kleinert Institute in 2005. Holly has presented at local and national hand meetings and has a special interest in flexor tendon and DRUJ injuries. She enjoys spending her free time with her family.

Jyoti K. Heiple, MHS, OTR/L, CHT is a graduate from Eastern Kentucky University where she obtained a Bachelors of Science in Occupational Therapy and the University of Indianapolis where she obtained a Master's of Health Sciences in Occupational therapy with a concentration in orthopedics. She began working in 2000 in various clinical settings where she found her passion was to treat the upper extremity and became a Board Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) in 2008. In her free time she enjoys trying new cuisines, traveling and relaxing with her family and friends.

Diane Helm, PTA has been practicing physical therapy since 1982 and is experienced in treating conditions related to the upper extremity. She graduated from Illinois Central College in Peoria, Il with a Associates Degree of Science in the Physical Therapy Assistant program. She joined CMKI in 1992 and has enjoyed working for CMKI for the past 25 years.

Melissa Kannady MS, OTR/L, CHT graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 2004 with a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy. As a Board Certified Hand Therapist, she joined CMKI in 2015 with 10 years of OT experience specializing in conditions related to the upper extremity. Melissa enjoys assisting each patient to achieve their individual treatment goals.

Jennifer King MS, OTR/L received her Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Spalding University, in Louisville, KY, in 2015. Shortly after graduation, she joined the CMKI team, where she has been treating conditions related to the upper extremity. She holds a certification in Deep Physical Agent Modalities.

Cindy Mosher PT graduated from U of L in 1997 with a degree in Physical Therapy. She has a diverse background in orthopedic and neurological disorders in outpatient and inpatient settings. She joined CMKI in 2010, and specializes in conditions of the upper quarter with emphasis on proximal nerve issues.

Rob Roberts PT graduated from the University of Louisville Physical Therapy Program in 1993. Rob completed an extended internship with Peter I. Edgelow PT, MA, DPT, in collaboration with the Kaiser Institute in San Fransisco, CA. He also studied under David Butler, B.Phty, M.App Sc. EdD on testing and effects of adverse mechanical tension of the upper quarter. He is a regular presenter at C. M. Kleinert Research Institute and has also been a guest speaker at the Hand Society of the Bluegrass.

Rebecca R. White-Shain PTA is a KY/IN licensed Physical Therapist Assistant with close to 29 years of experience. She earned her Physical Therapy Assistant degree from University of Kentucky’s Jefferson Community College in 1988. She has worked treating various conditions including acute care and orthopedics at Humana hospitals Suburban, Audubon, and Southwest and in addition to teaching as a Lab instructor with the PTA program at JCC. She joined CMKI Hand Therapy in 1992 and has enjoyed treating many different conditions related to the Upper Extremity.

Laurie Newsome PT, CHT has been practicing since 1978, after graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Kentucky. She joined our CMKI Hand Therapy team in 1991, and became a Certified Hand Therapist in 1994. She is experienced in treating a wide variety of conditions related to the upper extremity. She has participated in our Hand Transplant Research Program since 2001, and has assisted in the care of all of our recipients.

Jaime Royalty PT, CHT has been practicing physical therapy since 1991, and joined CMKI in 2002. Her hobbies are reading, walking, and enjoying nature. One of her favorite quotes, especially when working with the intricacies of the human hand, is that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14).

Jenny Schwartz MS, OTR/L is an Occupational Therapist specializing in hand therapy and pediatrics. In practice since 2009, she has worked in a variety of settings and is experienced with the treatment and custom splinting of upper extremity conditions in both adults and pediatrics. In addition, she has experience working with individuals with spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, and various learning disabilities/differences. She received her Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Spalding University.

Julie Sheldon MS, OTR/L, CHT graduated from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 2009 with a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Science from Eastern Kentucky University. She is a Board Certified Hand Therapist and certified in Deep Physical Agent Modalities. She has been practicing since 2010 and is experienced in treating conditions related to the upper extremity.

Walter Thompson, PTA graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1991 with a BA, from Midway College in 1999 with a Associate’s degree in science. Walter has been practicing since 1999 with an emphasis on upper quarter diagnosis. Walter joined CMKI in 2007. Walter likes to spend time with his son, racing Go Karts and enjoying the Kentucky Wildcats.
